Responsible Gambling
Gambling at Westio is intended to be an enjoyable form of entertainment. For the vast majority of players it stays that way — but for some people it can become problematic. Westio takes responsible gambling seriously and provides a full suite of in-account tools, alongside connections to free, confidential support organisations that can help anyone who needs it.
In-Account Responsible Gambling Tools
All of the following tools are available directly from your Westio account settings, without contacting support:
| Tool | How It Works | Available |
|---|---|---|
| Deposit Limit | Set a daily, weekly, or monthly cap on deposits. Increases take 7 days to come into effect; decreases take effect immediately. | Account settings |
| Loss Limit | Cap your net losses over a defined period. Preventing further losses once the limit is hit — session ends or deposits are blocked. | Account settings |
| Session Reminder | Receive a pop-up notification after a set number of minutes in the casino to remind you how long you have been playing. | Account settings |
| Reality Check | Periodic display of your session duration and net win/loss so far, prompting you to decide whether to continue. | Account settings |
| Time-Out | Pause your account for 24 hours, 1 week, 1 month, or up to 6 weeks. You cannot log in or deposit during the pause. | Account settings / live chat |
| Self-Exclusion | Permanently close your account for a minimum of 6 months up to permanent exclusion. Cannot be reversed early. | Live chat or email |
Warning Signs of Problem Gambling
Problem gambling can affect anyone. The following patterns may indicate that gambling has moved beyond entertainment:
- Spending more than you can afford to lose
- Chasing losses — increasing bets after a losing session to try to recover
- Gambling to escape problems, stress, or negative emotions
- Hiding your gambling from family or friends
- Neglecting work, family, or personal responsibilities because of gambling
- Borrowing money or selling possessions to fund gambling
- Feeling restless or irritable when not gambling
If any of these apply to you, consider using the time-out or self-exclusion tool in your account, and reach out to one of the support organisations below.
Free Support Organisations
The following organisations provide free, confidential support for anyone affected by problem gambling — players, family members, and friends:
| Organisation | Website | What They Offer |
|---|---|---|
| Gambling Therapy | gamblingtherapy.org | Free online support, live chat, forum — available in multiple languages, accessible globally |
| Gamblers Anonymous | gamblersanonymous.org | 12-step peer support programme, meeting finder, literature for problem gamblers and families |
Blocking Software
In addition to Westio's in-account tools, independent blocking software can help limit access to gambling sites across all browsers and devices:
- Gamban — blocks gambling sites across your devices at the network level
- GamStop — UK-based self-exclusion register for UK-licensed sites
- BetBlocker — free blocking tool available globally, cross-device
- Net Nanny / parental controls — useful for preventing access by minors on shared devices
Protecting Minors
Westio is strictly for players aged 18 and over. We verify age as part of the KYC process and may request proof of age at any point. If you share a device with minors, we recommend setting up parental controls or blocking software to prevent access to gambling sites.
How to Self-Exclude
To initiate self-exclusion, contact Westio live chat or email [email protected] stating that you wish to self-exclude and the duration you require (minimum 6 months). We will close your account and remove you from marketing lists within 24 hours. A self-exclusion cannot be lifted before the chosen period ends.
